It is always difficult to rise above from a tough beginning, but some find a way to overcome. This would be the case for MMA fighter Sydney Machado, a native of Brazil who made it his goal to take his gift of fighting to a more honorable arena than the streets. Since he was ten-years old he practiced martial arts specifically karate first then he studied capoeira then kick boxing. Yet by the time he was fourteen he had a setback with a hip injury but that did not stop him.
Sydney took to another marital art in Jiu Jitsu which he incorporated into all the others he learned. His motivation and desire to learn more propelled him to compete internationally. In 2004 he won his first silver medal in Jiu Jitsu which would open the floodgates to more promising awards. He would soon face tough opponents like Bryan Green but that only motivated him more to aspire to greatness.
Sydney would soon delve into different competitions like becoming
the grappling champion in Central America. In addition, he would
win jiu jitsu champion titles in Costa Rica, Panama, and Colombia.
When it comes to his MMA bouts he has won in Mexico and holds two
champion belts in France with the company Gladiator Fight Arena.
So far, he has been in the MMA game for eighteen years.

Sydney is one who also likes to give back to his community as he
is the process of opening martial arts camps in Costa Rica. The camps
will also include activities like surfing and hiking for the youth.
In March of 2024 he will be competing at the Pan Americano in Miami,
Florida, and the World Masters in Las Vegas. Sydney is due to become
a force in the MMA game with every step he takes. Keep your eyes and
ears open for this growing talent.
He makes his home in Costa Rica where he trains and plans his new
bouts to enhance his career. One of the hardest things for him to
do at first was to manage himself but he has remedied that as of
late. As of this writing he has managed to secure his 5th degree
black belt in Jiu Jitsu and is ranked #84 in South America and #79
in Brazil. Only recently Professor Alexandre Soca Freitas promoted
him to his Long Island Academy.
