How Many of You know what NaNoWriMo is?

If you're an author you should. As our thoughts turn to Thanksgiving, authors all over the world are sitting down in front of their computers getting ready for the most challenging event of the year. They are trying to write a 50,000 word Novel in 30 days.
During this month, we will be explaining what NANOWRIMO is, how you enter, the strategies to accomplish this amazing feat, and how to win.
First what it is - NATIONAL NOVEL WRITING MONTH - It began in 1999 as a challenge between friends, but NaNoWriMo has since grown into a global writing marathon with hundreds of thousands of participants each year.
The rules are simple: starting after midnight local time on November 1, writers begin drafting a new novel and must attempt to finish before the end of the month.
To win this November writing challenge, you'll need to write an average of 1,667 words per day. And once you've hit the 50,000-word mark, you can upload your novel to the NaNoWriMo website to verify your word count.
In our next post, we will dive deeper into the many reasons authors enter this challenging event, the strategies on how to win, and the rewards that it brings.

Tips for winning NaNoWriMo 2020

NaNoWriMo should be viewed more like a marathon than a competition. All it takes to win is to finish.
There are no judges. The prize is the self-satisfaction you get from accomplishing what few people could do.
Here is some advice to make your adventure easier.
Set-up ground rules on when you write and stick to them.
Write in short sprints so you don't burn yourself out.
Don't be afraid to make mistakes. they sometimes lead to inspiration.
Think of NaNoWriMo as putting sand in a sandbox. Add just enough each day.
Don't skimp on quality to fit it into 50,00 words. It's your adventure. No one is judging.
Keep active in your social media groups. It will give you a jolt every time you post your word count.
Find ways to be inspired. Look for images and objects that fit the mood of your story.
Do not look back at what you've already written. There will be time to edit when you are finished. Remember this is not the final product it is only a draft.
Use dialogue to help the reader see the world you created.
When you are done, put the draft away for a month and relax before you edit it.
GOOD LUCK TO ALL WHO MAKE THIS JOURNEY AND BE PROUD OF YOURSELF
